Remembering September 11: 25 Years Later
Today marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001.
For many Americans, it is hard to believe that a quarter century has passed. The images, stories, and emotions from that day remain a powerful part of our country’s history.
At Level Up Improvement, we want to take a moment today to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives. We also honor the families who lost loved ones and the countless people whose lives changed forever.
Honoring the First Responders
September 11 also reminds us of the incredible courage shown by first responders.
Firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and other emergency personnel ran toward danger while others were trying to escape. Many made the ultimate sacrifice while trying to save people they had never met.
Thousands more joined rescue and recovery efforts in the days and months that followed. The effects of their service continued long after September 11, and many responders and survivors later faced serious illnesses related to their exposure at Ground Zero.
Their courage and sacrifice deserve to be remembered.
Remembering the Unity That Followed 9/11
Those of us who remember September 11 also remember the days that followed.
People checked on their neighbors. American flags appeared outside homes and businesses across the country. Communities came together to help families they had never met.
There was a strong sense that despite our differences, we were Americans first.
Twenty-five years later, that spirit of community is worth remembering too.
25 Years Later, We Will Never Forget
A new generation has now grown up without personal memories of September 11, 2001. That makes continuing to tell these stories even more important.
We remember those who went to work that morning and never came home.
We remember the passengers and crews aboard the four flights.
We remember the first responders who answered the call.
We remember the families who have carried their loss for the past 25 years.
And we remember everyone who stepped forward to help in the aftermath.
From all of us at Level Up Improvement, we honor their memory today.
September 11, 2001.
25 years later, we will never forget. 🇺🇸
